Abstract:

The species Isis melitensis Goldfuss 1826 and I. peloritana Seguenza 1864 are redescribed, using new material. They are transferred to the genus Keratoisis Wright 1869 based on the structure of their axes. K. melitensis (Goldfuss) comb. nov. occurs in the Pleistocene and K. peloritana (Seguenza) comb. nov. in the Pliocene of Sicily. No similar species are known from the Recent Mediterranean Sea.
